Need some answers...
Hi, I've just got my custom 2.5" downpipe and a straight pipe done on my car, and its been a HUGE performance gain, but so far but I'm having some 'possible' problems. When I shift from 1st to 2nd at a high rpm, I hear a loud "BANG" around the exhaust area of the car. I was told this was "backfire" or "backpressure" and would be cured after I get my chip tuned some more. Is it true that I'm wasting gas because its not tuned properly? and its not burning gas fast enough? Power held back due to this? Thanks in advance.

Does the sound come out from the back of the exhaust, or elsewhere?
Maybe the quick shift is moving the engine enough to the point the exhaust is hitting something.
Did the stock downpipe have a flex coupling, and if so, did you put one on your new downpipe? Maybe that's the problem.

If you need a 2.5" flex connector...
Contact BOOSTD, he has one for sale. See https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m/a4/msgs/429773.phtml for more info (I'm getting the one Ed has, and he said BOOSTD had one too)

Re: If you need a 2.5" flex connector...
I don't think anything is banging physically, and I believe its coming from the muffler. I do have a 2.5" Flex joint, here's my post back on the TT board.

My post..
