Default need some chipping ideas

I'm a novice tuner who owns a 99 1.8tq with 62k and am thinking about chipping. Although I'm sure I'll rarely utilize the full potential of a reprogrammed ECU, I like the idea of having added spirited performance when the mood strikes me. I drive a 30 minute commute twice a day at highway speeds in northern NY state-the very cold winters here are a concern in this decision. Warranty void isn't a concern-my mechanic is a super guy, so a socketed chip sounds rather appealing. Price is, however, as my budget won't allow for a lot of screwing around with this mod-Wett chips just so happen to be on sale for $350 w/free shipping until 3/15, but there website doesn't specify which one. Anyway, with all this in mind-car mileage, driving habits, climate, price-does anyone have any ideas? I'd appreciate any and all thoughts.

-THANKS FOLKS-

Default Any chip will do for your non dbw car.

Just make sure the chip is designed for the non dbw 1.8t and you will be fine.

BTW you can also find a few non dbw chipped ECU's out there for close to that price.
