new 6spd in B6 A4 1.8T Anyone know if this is going to match up with the b5 1.8 motor?

I haven't seen the gearing list for them but I suspect they will be at least a close match to the
gearing on teh 01E 6 speed. Unless they also revamped the current 1.8t block AND the current 5 speed case for both the 1.8t and the 3.0, which I highly doubt, I would be willing to bet the housing is identical to the 01e 6 speed in the NeuS4. The only advantage of the 1.8t 6 speed, unless the gearing is slightly more advantageous, would be a depression on the value of a used 6 speed due to more available in the yards.
If you are interested in installing a 6 speed I say .. don't wait. Buy a used S4 6 speed, rear differential, shifter assembly from the **** to the transmission (easiest route) and rear propeller shaft and get on it.

The fishy for the '03 cars lists the transmissions as FNU, FTZ, FTP, and GBT for 01A 5spd TorSen 'boxes and FYF and GBE for 01E 6spd 'boxes...
All 5spds have 3.89 finals, both 6's have 4.11 finals.
CVT's are 01J's with 4.78 finals (whoa).
FYF/GBE gear ratios:
1 - 28/8
2 - 34/18
3 - 33/25
4 - 30/29
5 - 30/35
6 - 27/37

So the 5 speed is still the 01A case and the 6 speed is a 01E .. therefore it seems rational that
the 1.8t block is unchanged (at the transmission mounting surface) and that the 6 speed box from either a B6 or a B5 NeuS4 are pretty much interchangable.
