Default New Momentum Turbo Kit!

Read the newest (US) Max Power .. it has a 2001 Passat with a GT2835 turbocharger, custom manifold, external HKS wastegate, HKS Boost Controller, larger injectors, and stock ECU! Is this possible? I remember some discussions about external wastegates on 2000+ engines and the consensus was .. it wouldn't work! Plus a boost controller ??

Default They'll work fine on a different turbo....

You can not use a boost controller or external wastegate on a stock turbo.

I'm surprised he's running a stock ECU. There is a lot more power to be had by playing with the fuel and timing tables.
It may run now, but I wonder for how long?

Default US Max Power?

Does it have half topless hotties in it like the UK one?

How about fake VW ads (you know the one I mean)?

I bet it doesn't have 1.0L 3-cylinder cars hopped up to a mind blowing 130HP.

Default But I thought ...

the ECU has a boost map that it uses to regulate the boost pressure via the boost frequency valve. I wonder how they connected the wastegate to the boost controller and the boost frequency valve.

They are using a lot more on that car to block what the ecu is seeing from the sensors.

The ECU has to be reprogrammed to fully ultilize the parameters of the new turbo

Default Most boost controllers use a frequency valve just like Audi's...

So basically, the boost controller has a boost sensor to monitor the boost levels. When the boost is too much, it bleeds less, and makes the wastegate open. When it's too little, it bleeds more and makes the wastegate close.

The ECU is taken out of the picture.
