Default NEW PICTURES!!! (Audi R4R back in action,...)

As promised,... now up and running with the Turbonetics ball-bearing cartridge T04E with the custom equal length headers. I'm stillusing the ford MAF, supra TT fuel pump, 550cc injectors, GIAC custom software, and stock cams (just refinished the shrick cams), Apex AFC fuel controller and a manual boost controller. So it is a lot like my old set-up. Same Greddy Type-S BOV and same 3" straight through exhaust and 35mm Tial wastegate.

My comments compared to the told T3/T4 setup is that full boost kicks in around 5000+rpm the old setup was about 3-500 rpm less. But the pull is harder all the way to 8200rpm. I'm sure it's faster on the 1/4 mile though, but worse for everyday driving practicality. But still very drivable.

There's more body work that needs to be done, but here's a preview and some pictures. ENJOY! =)

Default What are the compressor and turbine trims?

5000 is a pretty high RPM for max boost. I'm going to be running a T04E 40 trim compressor with a stage 3 turbine with .48 housing and I'm hoping it comes in alot sooner than yours.

Default Very nice setup...

but it must be a looong way to full boost, but hey, if you don't have lag, you don't have a turbo! Gongrats.

Default Nice to hear you're getting there! (Slowly but surely right?!)

Yeah,... the car is up and running. But the internals and the real set-up are still a ways away. I want the AEM EMS for it's low $ and it's diverse functions. I don't want to rely on the piggy back fuel controllers when it comes down to it. Fine tuning for each cylinder is needed, in my opinion. So the solid-lifter cams, ti valves and v springs, rods, and pistons will be in with the EMS. Since AEM hasn't finished developing their race EMS,... I think I'll be waiting 6 months or so, realistically. But things are still fun right now,... neck snapping pull at 5000+ rpm. Hehe,... you kow the feeling!

Default No matter what T04E you end up using your not going to hit full boost

(15psi or higher) before 4700 rpms. Which means to get into the meat of the power band your going to be putting alot of stress on your motor and head because your pushing your luck at over 7500 rpms and the stock head has a limit of making peak hp over 6K since there is a flow restriction.

Default Can't wait! my T4E kit is supposed to be here tomorrow! You have any hints of what to expect?

Clues of what else I'll need, etc? I already went with a 2 stage boost controller, 450CC injectors, and 35mm tial wastegate, & SPP's FMIC. Are there any serious fabrications for the intake & exhaust? I'll obviously find out, probably the hard way. Email me if you've got some lifesaving tips....Thanks!

Default Stephen.... A question for you.

First off the car looks sweet. Glad to see some big(ger) turbo A4's on the forum.

Regarding the turbo, does it not put out a lot of heat. Isn't it kinda close to the hood? I would be scared of the paint bubbling. Might be a dumb question but I am just curious.
