Default Newbie chip info?

I have a 2004 A4 1.8t CVT, and I was wondering whether or not it's worth getting it chipped.

I have to say I know nothing about it, and I was really worried about losing the warranty for the car due to it. I am aware of removeable chips, but can someone explain more info on the removeable aspect of it? Is it totally unnoticeable to audi?

Also, what is a good one to get? How much do the chips go for, and how much does it cost to get it installed into the car?

Default APR charges $499 for your car.....

$149 more if you want to be able to turn the mod on/off.

http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/ecu_upgrade_8ea418t.html</a

Which is the better way to go? APR or revo? What are the differences?

Default iirc revo is direct port....

ie they flash your ecu rather than replacing a chip. apr offers this option for your car too. you should read the tech section.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/</a

Default apr info?

I'm considering modding my ECU to APR Stage 1, and I am aware that I am taking the risk, but how big is this risk? I read that the uprade does NOT push the car to the limits, and I see that many people have done it.

Is stage 1 on a 1.8t CVT really that big of a risk? If something happend, could I not just switch the mod off, and then bring my car into audi?
