Hey eveyone!

I am in the market for a new car and am very interested in a A4 1.8T Quattro. I have never dabbled in tuning (e.g. chipping), but have driven an A4 recently and could see how this could be such a great car to have, especially when modified. My main questions right now are whether there is a particular year between 1998, 1999, and 2000 that I should buy (my budget is limited) - are the computer systems any better in the later years, or are the later year models more receptive to tuning? Also, if I do buy one, and chip it with a conservative chip from a quality tuner, do I HAVE to run premium (92-94) gas, or can I get away with running plus (89) gas (I drive a lot of miles in my cars and gas cost is a factor for me). I have seacrhed the archives and am just trying to get a final answer on how gas use and chipping is related. I am not sure I want to have to buy premium gas all the time, use octane boosters, look for the "right" gas stations, listen for pinging, etc... - I am sort of a sucker for low maintenance cars. Don't mean to be offending you pros by such stupid questions and motivations, but I don't know any better at this point. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
