Next question for you custom turbo guys...
Any concerns about the strength of other parts, the transmission in particular? I know a new clutch will be in order, and a lightweight flywheel to help turbo spool. But what about the overall strength of the 1.8T tranny, and is a 28 tranny any stronger (I know it has different gear ratios, but is that the only difference?)
And I guess the question I should really ask is.. where can I learn about all this myself. Does Audi, or any other automotive manufacture for that matter, release HP and torque ratings for all their parts?

The stock trans will hold up....
depending on how much you abuse it. The 2.8 trans is identical, except for the gear ratios.
I think as long as you don't get too aggressive with the clutch, it will act as a fuse of sorts. I haven't broken any trans parts or axles, then again, I don't do 5000 RPM clutch drops either.
The RS2 6-speed would be the strongest trans, but it takes some work to install it.

our trannies are very strong, supports well over 600hp..
i assume personally well over 800hp with no problems.
the clutch probably slips around 350~400tq, but that varies with different cars, i.e a4, gti, tt, etc.
