are octaine additives bad for the engine?

Re: are octaine additives bad for the engine? - No, but they only raise your octane by ~0.1 points..
so it'd be like going from 89 to 89.1 octane. Or is it only 0.01 points? Either way, not worth it.

yeah a typical bottle is like 3 points
so say your base fuel is like 94....you would go to 94.3, but the problem with some of the 104 stuff is that it contains lead, which will kill your cat fast if you use it...some people use Toluene as a booster, but you need chemical grade stuff...alot of the toluene at the paint stores has other additives in it or is less pure, which could cause it to attack your rubber orings and seals, toluene works, however it is a carcinogen, its the stuff that gives glue its smell...

Yup...a guy wanted to run toluene in his 10vt. I said just get race gas and mix it in. Better in the long run over the additives and toluene, IMO.
