Oil Question
My 4 year old 2.8l A6 has hit 15k miles (it was a garage queen) and I decided to try out Mobil1 0W40. Thanx to Audis maintenance the car has been running with crappy dino oil for at least 2 years now - if the car was not delivered with synthetic then it may be 4 years of dino oil.
I recall reading about waiting too long to switch from dino to synthetic causing trouble. Slush/ash that may have formed would be dislodged when the synthetic is used and this may harm the engine.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

You shouldn't have any problems ...
.
On high mileage cars, I've seen excessive oil consumption (1 qt per 500 miles) after switching from dino oil to Mobil 1, but I wouldn't expect this when switching at 15k miles. Switching back to dino oil brought oil consumption back to normal.
No problems with sludge.
