Default ok....question for the smart guys....

Cuzin just bought a 98 camaro Z28, he thought it was stock, except for an exhuast. i look at the car, and take it for a ride. IT can't be stock I tell him. The sucker runs 0-60 well under 5 secs. ITs automatic, i think it may have a different rear end gear (u can hear the whinning). OK so lets get to the point. Mr. S4 has a supra twin turbo that runs low 12s, he got smoked by this Z. They raced up to 80mph, and NO way was he going to catch up. Here is the thing, traction control was on, my cuzin is the suckest driver ever, JUST GOT HIS D.L like two weeks ago, and he STILL smsoked mr.S4. What can be done to this car. All i ve seen is K&N filter and the exhuast. IT can't be that fast for those mods, CAN IT??

Default cams, MAYBE the idle is a little ruff BUT....

every thing else looks stock, no headers or anything crazy. THIS CAR IS FAST AS HELL, even with a "ok" driver. Mr. S4 0-60 in his TT is under 5 sec easy, and this car TORCHED him. I dunno..... Maybe one of those factory defects....?

Default LT-1 F-body cars have intake and exhaust restrictions

These are usually the first to go. Beyond that the skys the limit. Most folks usually go with supercharger and/or NOS, more cost effective than boring and cams. But, obviously neither of these in this case.

Hmm, I'd like to know myself...

Default 98s have the LS1....

I dunno, this sucker would run well under 13s with a nice set of slicks. Slam it, and all u gonna do is sit in one spot and smoke em. THATS NUTS!!! no other T/A camaro has ever done this, 6 speeds with a nice dump of the clutch. I DUNNO.....

Probably has a rear diff, what's the RPM's at 60 MPH ? Also a high stall converter would help.

Default Hmmmm....

The owner of my company has a LS1 Vette, and he said he once had trouble pulling a Honda S2000. He almost sold the car. He knows how to drive.

I'd say there's more to that car than meets the eye.

Sure it doesn't have a second engine stashed in there somewhere?

A good set of cylinder heads and even a mild cam will give at least 40+ extra HP at the wheels

Default Well, if your Cuzin got the jump on Mr. S4.....

By the time Mr. S4 reacted, he could have easily lost a second.

Don't Camaros run 13s out of the box these days? An automatic with a good shift kit, an exhaust, and an intake should have no problem running low 13s given proper gearing.

Default I read an article in Car Craft (or was that Hot Rod, same thing)...

They dyno'd a Vette and Camaro. The Vette made less than advertised power, and the Camaro made more than advertised power, almost identicle to each other. Makes you wonder if they just use the same motor, and make the HP numbers up for marketing purposes.
