pic of my fmic!
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/18068/img_0357.jpg"></center><p>
everything worked out great execpt for the quality of the core i got on ebay for 200 bucks was questionable. the fins are very weak so i'm sure the core wont last like a more expensive core. I might look into a racetech core or something but this is fine for now. the best part is the cut bumper support. i removed the lower section then bent it inside the existing support and welded it back together. I out sourced the welding but it still took several hours to get the sections fit togeter properly. the entire project cost about $350. the core i used was 21x7x3 amd cost about 200 bucks on ebay. I did not need to cut the large plastic support the ac core is mounted to but I did cut the passanger side lower ic pipe. I could've made it work without cuttting but i didnt want to risk damaging the samco pipe that comes with the apr stage 3. I think this would fit under a stock bumper but i cant say for sure. fits great under my aftermarket rs2 look bumper. the hardest part was remolding the bumper support to make it fit together. anyway I think this is a great way to go for those that need a fmic but dont what to spend a ton of moeny on an existing kit.

Re: pic of my fmic!
That core doesnt appear too bad, I would keep it, esp. if you got a bigger turbo. I'd pick a tube and fin core over a bar and plate. Im not sure what SPP uses.
Do some logs, maybe dyno and swap, I bet you very negligable difference. I bet the butt dyno would never be able to tell.
Dang they used some thick alumium on the very top and bottoms of the core. I can't tell how thick the fins(turbulators)are but the thicker the better in your case(looking at the pic) and in most cases. Should fit opening pretty perfect for S4 or RS4 front. The direct airflow will do you the most help.
Post up a pic with the bumper on ;-) Should look pretty good.

doest look like i'm going to make it.
my car is still having issues and i've not really had the time to work on it much. n ot only that but no one in chicago wants to do the drive right now so I have no way of getting the car out west. I could do the drive in 2 days myself but I dont think i would be in very good driving condition for the event. anyway I hope to do the event next year, perhaps the event will be somewhere in the midwest and not such a pain to get to.
