Default is it possible to remove the MAF sensor from that cylindrical housing?

i think i need to bathe mine in isopropyl alcohol to remove some silicon. i don't really want to drop the whole housing in there with it cuz it's pretty dirty.

There are tamper proof torx bits on it. It's not likely a good idea. You don't want to get anything on the senso itself. There isn't any sense in cleaning the sensor. I gets very hot, and cleans itself I believe. You can carefully clean the housing. Spray a rag and wipe the housing if needed. IF you would need a new one for some strange reason, the same one is used in the 2.0 vw engine, which is readily available at the salvage yard. HTH. Just my opinion on the subject.

Yes, clean the housing too while you are at it.
