That's just an oil gasket....
just like the valve cover gasket.
If air is leaking from there, then it sounds like you're pressurizing the crankcase.
Try removing the valve cover filler cap, and see if you here air coming from there.

will that gasket need to be replaced? How would air be getting in?
Was in communication with someone else who thought that air was coming in through the pcv system(one of hte check valves not working. How should i go about fixint this-- Until the car is hot and everything seals i have no power. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Where are you applying pressure?
There is a tube that runs from the crankcase to the turbo hose between the MAF and the turbo.
Disconnect the hard line tube that runs from the turbo inlet to the crankcase.
You can see it in your pic:

It's the black metal tube that goes over the exhaust manifold, runs along side the head, and behind it.
If you plug the line coming off the turbo hose, and you still have a leak, then you may have a bad PCV valve, which is a check valve between the intake manifold and the crankcase vent.

OK, that's probably why you're getting air in the crankcase...
Disconnect and plug the hose coming off the turbo inlet hose, and that should take care of the pressure in the head.

when i pressurized it with the pcv valve unhooked and plugged no more leak in head. .. .
so is one of the check valves bad? you say to perminantly disconnect it?
