Probably stupid ? Would larger injectors and a reprogrammed chip work for a 2.8?

I know with M3s that you can get a significant increase with hi-flow injectors and a reprogrammed chip.
I wonder if the increases with the injectors will be more than with just a GIAC chip.
Any ideas? has it been done before?
Thanks

And that requires $4000 that I dont have :)
I'm actually going to have someone make me a full custom intake for my car. They said they might be able to make it from the throttle body back for even better flow. I'm excited for sure. These guys were able to make 20 extra hp from a WRX with just the intake (dyno proven) and 15 extra from an M3 by using a decreasing radius pipe that speeds up the air. I've seen the work and its is a work of art. Once I do it, I'll post pics of it. It might be great with the SC.

the stock 30V injectors (~18 lb @ 3bar ) are good for about 220hp...
85% duty cycle - since the A4 uses a 4 bar regulator. Get an A/F meter if you want to see how well the current setup is doing against budget mods. If it is going on the lean side, you can buy some Mustang (19lb ) injectors on EBAY (under $50 sometimes) to increase fuel capability another 10hp, or you can increase fuel pressure around 0.4-0.5 bar - which usually calls for a $300 part.
Other than that, there should be no need for much larger injectors unless you are doing a supercharger as Rob mentioned.
