Default QTEC Down Pipe, freeexhaust by the push of a button... (more)

Have anyone seen the kits they're selling at:
http://www.quicktimeperformance.com

Basicly its an Y-split to put on your exhaust, witch you can open up by hitting a button.
That way you can run free exhaust, with less backpressure and accordingly more power!?
I've seen a guy on the vwvortex-forum running this with an APR s3 kit. gained about 10hp bypassing racecat and exhaust on a transverse...

The car IS LOUD. of course.

My question is:
Wont this be a bad thing!?
We need some backpressure from the exhaust for the engine to run properly?

Jamez.

Default All the crap you know about backpressure and turbos - throw it out the window for turbos.

Free exhaust = earlier spool = power.

Actually has more to do with speeding spool up of the turbo and gas reversion

Default I ran this on a long stage 3 car and..............

it lasted a couple of days. Sent it back for a rebuild and it lasted a couple of days once again. The idea is great and when it worked, it worked great but the turbo charged engine is harder on them than a normally aspirated engine. Banks power has an exhaust break system that has a better design but good luck finding room for that type of system under our cars, in fact I did not have much room at all for the one I installed.

Go unbolt your exhaust just after K03 and find out how much power you end up with.
