Default Question about stage 3 (apr) or T28 on a tip...

before any of you say anything yes i know its a bitchstick and i dont much care, i deal with too much traffic in the DC area and i got a great deal on this car when i picked it up so it works for me.

now my qustion is, i have a 2000 model year and people keep telling me i should just go K04 with J31 programming since either stage 3 or t28 would give too much lag on the Tip to make them worth the money over the J31. my only concern with the J31 is running such high boost doesnt seem like it would be very enjoyable for a daily driver, seems like it may cause more reliability issues down the road than either of the other 2. i know my tranny will handle the additional power of any of these upgrades as it has been fully rebuilt by level 10 (long story as to why i did it).

my question is, does anyone have experience with either of these setups on a tip and exactly how much lag is there? also is there anyway, besides a 2.0L conversion, to reduce the lag from these setups? if a 2.0L conversion is what i do down the road, not likely, done right how much do these usually cost? $2500? $3000? much more? less? i have no idea as i havent ever really looked into this cause i never really considered it.

just looking to make my car somewhat quicker as just the chip and other basic mods is getting old and not sure how much the K04 would give me as a couple friends who have or had it didnt seem too much faster than my car already is.

thanks in advance

Default did you read what i wrote???

I have the level 10 upgrade, is rated much higher than 250.

and you are mistaken on PES not selling the kit to tip owners, they have it listed on their site for tiptronic.

i dont think APR will sell it to tip owners but id get it used anyways

Default Actually they have put it on tip cars before

and there is a tip kit which should be detuned a bit so that there is not as much of a tq hit when boost comes on. When it comes to any trans, hp means nothing since it is tq that will do the damage.

Default again, im not worried about the hp or tq numbers damaging my tranny...

it has been fully upgraded by level 10 and is quoted as being able to hold much higher tq numbers than stock

trying to figure out how much lag will be cause by the slushbox and if there is a way to reduce the lag other than a 2.0L conversion

Default Yes there will be a bit of lag, but you will just get used to it.

There was a guy here with the same setup which lived in NY and had PES do all the work, IIRC his name here was G8keepR007.
