R32 vs. S4 Avant...
...I am very close to getting an R32 but considering S4 Avant now for practicality purposes (family, etc). However, still undecided. Many things to consider, $$, gas mileage, utility, fun factor, stealth factor, etc.
This will be my first new "top of the line" car after many years of hard work and used VWs. Im still a hardcore VW enthusiast, but have really taken to the Audis in the last few years. Currently own an A4 2002 (wife's car). Any comments or opinions welcomed.

a4 or s4 avant? big difference
if its the s4 i say stick with the audi, if its the a4 go for the r32.
although if your talking about the s4, keep in mind the b5 s4's 2.7 twin turbo engine is a PITA to keep in top form. there's just so many damn hoses.

S4, sorry typo...
...looking at the new B6 S4s with the 4.2 v8. Really stuck between R32 fun car but small, vs. S4 Avant more practical but still a stealth mobile that's really a mean machine in disguise.

There's quite a price difference between those two vehicles.
Like almost $20K...$32K vs $50K+ with options. I think you'd be crazy to pay that much for a Golf with a VR6 and a Haldex differential. You may as well get a new 5-Series for the money of the S4...or many cheaper, better options (plus mods).

I'm just not a Bimmer guy...
...thinking maybe of trading in the A4 for the S4 Avant, and maybe, maybe, getting the R32 as well (as was suggested in another forum). Some people might think is a little crazy, but I reached the point in my life where I can do it, and man, I think my wife and I deserve it.
Plus, I think I can get the R32 at invoce (27k). Factor in the Audi owner loyalty rebate for the S4, plus the A4 trade in (~19k Blue book value) and I could do ok.

It's such a hard thing for me to comprehend.......
I know both cars pretty well, and both are very worthy. I just have 2 problems, both relating to the bill. 1rst problem is shelling out that kind of money for a new car, knowing it will lose lots of value once I drive it off the lot. 2nd is a VW costing that much.

unfortunately that's the world we live in (its all $$)...
...my view is that we are only in this world once and our time here is short so I think I'm just going to extreme and get both (I work hard and I think I deserve these cars); trade-in my wife's A4 for the Avant S4 and get me an R32 on the side, if I can get one close to invoice with low mileage (some of the ones i've seen at the dealers have 100+ miles on the odometer, i understand they should have some mileage ~20, cause they are factory-tested but 100+ is too much)
