In reference to fine tuning the 2.0L big turbo'd engines....
Talked to a machinist about some of the other cars that mod like this(toyotas, nissans, subaru, etc), said a lot of them use the GM 3 bar MAP sensor. Anyone play with this? He'd said they were a breeze to wire in, and easy to tune with? Costing around $200? OEM for corvettes, Z06?

I have a Bosch 3.0 bar in mine
FWIW, the GM has a smoother curve to it. You don't really need anything better than a Bosch 2.5 unless you want to run high boost (23psi+). There's also a variable map solution out there (See link) that might be better for those crazier ones, but you need custom tuning for each option listed.

VMAP4

You can get a GM 3 bar MAP sensor for about $50...
MSD also sells one which is identical to the GM unit, and you can get it through Summit. A lot of the stand-alone systems use the 3 bar MAP sensor for turbo applications.
I'm not sure what you'd use it for though? You can't use it to replace the MAF, the nonDBW cars don't have a pressure sensor, and the DBW cars would need a conversion box or chip if you wanted to replace the stock pressure sensor.
I bought an MSD unit, and plan on using it for data-logging, and possibly a home-made boost controller.

have those that are having software problems thought about custom tuning?
there is a person on vwvortex "jefnes3" who writes custom chips for vr6 turbo cars and other apps for very good prices...
maybe he might be interested in writing software for audis? might be worth looking into

Or you can ask this guy...he's like Lucas, but with one more cylinder and a bigger turbo. ;-)

I thought you had a ndbw?
If so you dont even have a boost sensor in your car.
Right now I can run what ever boost level I want to even up to 30psi as long as the ECU/chip are tuned for 20psi.

Alot of the DSM guys use the GM 3" MAF I believe. They toss that on there with MAFT...
But they need to convert the signal to a karman signal for their ECU. I think the GM MAF is only good up to like 5volts right John? And the audi's run curves up to 5.5volts.

The GM MAF has a frequency output....
I'm not sure what the stock DSM meter uses though.
The Ford MAF is usually only used to 5V, although it can output up to 7V or so.
The nonDBW ECU will only accept up to 5.5V, but I have seen the stock meter hit 6V
