Default Roar intake/hypercharger reviews

Anyone have one of these?
I know there were posts on this before, like 2 years ago.

Any recent feedback on possible improvements?
Or is it crap?

I'm thinking about it for my 2.8 30v A4

Default Be careful about buying anything from a company that...

...doesn't-

1.Answer the telephone.
2.Respond to emails.
3.Won't accept credit card as payment.

No, I haven't "been there" with this company, but I know people who have.

You've been warned.

Default I have it on my car, and it is the best intake I have ever used, my advice is...

dont' buy one, cause the company is inpossible to deal with, the directions suck unless you already know exactly what you are doing, and you can't even buy one because they will NEVER return phonecalls. The system's great tho.

Default Thanks for the reply...

I have the Lltek intake on mine, so I guess I'll stick to that.

You say it's the best intake you ever used, what gains did you get? Ever dynoed it? 1/4 mile times?

Default The best parts of it are, the sound, and the fact that it keeps the

whole area where the air filter is the same temp as it is outside. If it's 40 deg outside the air filter is 40 deg. Basically it keeps it cooler than if you just had an open filter under there especially if you are at idle. No I never dynoed it, but the butt dyno says a little gain, maybe about the same as your Lltek.

Default cold air take on 1.8T = bad idea.

Well maybe not bad, but probably not "good". I have failed to see anyone post much about performance improvements on the 1.8T from a cold air intake. I had one on my old neon, but the stock air box was behind the engine and sucked warm air out of the engine bay. As you've probably seen the 1.8T air box is a ram air setup and is pretty darn good. Every intake I've heard will make the engine sound louder, since there is usually less material between the throttle body and outside, but a lot of times I don't think this is a good thing. IMHO

i bought the same exact piece at Home depo that LLTEK makes for $150- 200 for under $10 its and rounded ended peice that turns the filter away from the turbo and points the filter down toward the cold air and near the AC conpressor HUGE HUGE difference better responce gas etc...
wish i could figure out how to put pics up...e-mail me if u guys are intereted Blaz95@aol.com will try to send thatway John

Sounds intriguing and shows some good ingenuity, but I'd be curious to see some dyno results. I'm just skeptical. I've put many a "5 HP" improvement on that was questionable. I think its hard to judge since most cold air intakes are louder, which sometimes seems faster.

Default With good heatshielding an intake would be great.....

the shield that comes with the Evo/Lltek kit is a joke. Just Dave has a pretty impressive shield. His design was pretty good, it's too bad none of the tuners thought about it as long as he did, otherwise they could sell a product that actually works=P

It's actually not that bad. It may get some cooler air when your moving, but after stop and go for a while my filter is hot to the touch. With my special made ram-air headlight I'm sure heat wasn't a problem.
