Whew! Left a nice 8" puddle of oil at a friend's house. He calls me to tell me I have an oil leak. I pull over and sure enough, I am a quart low. OK...where'd the oil go? I then determine it's coming out of the coolant resevoir. The resevoir is filled with a nice poopy brown mixture of oil and coolant. No evidence of water in the oil (based on the dipstick).

$151 later and I'll have my new oil cooler on the car. (I'm doing the power steering pump while I'm in there).

Anyway, the reason I'm posting this here (aside from the fact that I only trust people who post in the Performance forum) is that I'm trying to figure out the best way to get this sludge out of the cooling system. My first thought is to run a 50/50 mix of water and radiator flush and change it three times in the next week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

FYI, simple green is corrosive to aluminum. AVOID.

I'd go with Ed's suggestion of a flushing kit. That way you'd also descale the coolant system.

Default Shout. Get a spray bottle of Shout stain remover(2-3 actually), remove the thermostat,

put 1/2 bottle of shout in, fill with water & run til it's piping hot(not way overheating but get the temp gauge at 1/2), revving it to circulate & bleed. There's a bolt on the water pump that makes it real easy to drain coolant, and you can do that while it's running if you're careful. I'd recommend turning it off though. Anyway, run & flush like 4-6 times like that, then with straight water once, and fill with regular mix of coolant.

That's how we do it anyway, other methods will also work I'm sure.
