Default Yes.

1. You're sucking up all the crud in the tank when you get to the bottom, though this should get filtered in the fuel filter.

2. You're running the car lean at the moment you run out.

pump also uses the fuel to lubricate and cool it as well.

Its always best to consider 1/4 a tank empty, and try not to go below that.

Default I find that odd, because when I replaced the pump

it stands on end so how could it be in fuel all the time if the tank is anything but full? I always run the tank empty till the point that the car dies and the cel comes on. I did this with the stock pump all the time to remove all of the gas before putting in the race fuel and never once had a problem with it. I also do it with the Walbro and have not seen a problem.

Because when the pump is pumping fuel is when it needs lubrication and cooling.

Default Which it does when it has fuel going thru it.

The top of the pump is almost at the top of the tank, so its not like the pump is in fuel at all times. If its not pumping fuel then the car is not going to run anyway. There is also a sensor that ecu looks at when the fuel has gone too low, which will throw a DTC also.

Default I never had any problems with my stock pump.

I ran the car low ever weekend before going to the track so I could run straight race fuel. I do the same with my walbro.

Wow. Yeah, when I would get real low mine would whine real high pitched as it primed.
