?'s regarding a normal 2.7 bi-turbo vs. KTR's single turbo setup...
Does anyone forsee any major problems going from the biturbo setup to a single turbo setup as KTR has done?
How much more extra work is involved doing something like that?
How do the turbos that Porsche uses stack up against a K04 lets say?
thanks for the help

porsche uses k26 and k27 turbos iirc
so basically they are the same old design as the K03 and K04's the Audis use, but bigger. As far as the KTR car goes, it's a purpose built dragster. It's low end power isn't good, but it builds a ton of top end power. Doing something like that will bemore expensive and more troublesome than just buying a K04 kit from the tuners out there.

Porsche would use a K27 or 27/29 on the old 930's. Not super efficient, Audi's K26 was at most 74% efficient. The K0x line is revised, and slightly more efficient (as are the new K2x turbos).
Porsche uses either a "big" K04 or K16 for the 996tt. Aftermarket guys use K24's. A single K24, for a given configuration and engine size, is good for 250kW+ before doing anything to it. That is why you see 500, 600, 700hp, etc 3.4 and 3.6L 24v H6 P-car motors, and they still spool fairly well.
For every day driving, I would not do a single turbo unless it was sized absolutely correctly, as were the exhaust runners. Kinda tough to do on a Vee config. Easy to do on an inline. Guy I know has a Supra, single turbo, highly custom 3.1L build-up. Well north of 700hp before the nitrous button was pushed, and the thing made good power and boost by 2500rpm (he got wheel spin at basically idle in 1st gear on 295 wide tires). He spent some serious coin on that turbo and custom header, and of course custom ECU programming.
If you ever see a black Supra, with black Fikse (?) wheels and the license plate XCLR8, just don't even bother going up against it, at least not on the highway. Maybe the first to a certain distance would be ok, as he cannot use WOT in 1st and 2nd really.

K03 vs. K04 - if the only difference is the blades why couldn't one just switch them on a stock K03?
