Default Is this a scam? Audi A4, A6, A8 Intake Sensor Mod 20+hp

Has anyone had any experience with modifying the Air intake sensor as desribed in this guy's ebay ad? Sounds like one of those "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" type of deals. Any thoughts? If it provided 1/2 the gain it claims, I'd try it on my 97 A6Q. Thanks, Bill

This auction is for an Intake Sensor Modification Resistor. This modification resistor will give you very similar results that an ECU (Electronic Control Unit) upgrade chip will do. This modification connects to you intake sensor. It works by causing fooling your ECU into thinking that the air coming into the intake is colder therefore causing it to advance the timing and letting out the fuel supply creating more horsepower. This is a resistor that will modify your Air/Fuel ratio and slightly change your engine timing to run stronger and with increased power.

This Intake Sensor Modification Resistor will fit just about all models and make of cars and trucks from 1987 and newer that are fuel injected (non Turbo). It's extremely easy to install no tools are required and this modification resistor will not damage your vehicle in anyway!!! This only takes about 10 minutes to install.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=791667527 5&category=33597</a

Don't do it. Just get a chip.

Thanks. The problem with chipping is that no one wants to deal with the ECU on a 97 2.8 12v. :-(

Default I'm sorry, I saw that "resistor mod" thing and I just assumed you had a 1.8T or 30v

The answer is still, "don't do it", but you won't be getting a chip ;-). Check of the 12v development forum instead if you haven't already. Those guys have some mods that will actually give you 20+ hp.

Default First off all this product is doing is cutting the % of voltage that gets to the ecu

causing the car to run leaner. If you run the car leaner the car will tend to pull the timing back as the knock sensor voltage gets higher. There is no such thing as free or cheap hp.

Default Why not get three or four and put them in tandem?

20+20+20+20=woohoo

Not a scam, but not the way to get more power.
Obviously, with the 12v, your options are limted.
I wonder how hard it would be to put a 4.2 in an a6.....?

Richer, not leaner.

Default I guess it depends on if your talking Turbo or NA

yes your way is correct for NA while on a turbo car you want to lean it out a little.

Default It works up until the ECU figures it out and adjusts lamda/air/fuel to what it used to be anyway.

Waste of time and money.

Default Limited? Maybe two years ago, but not anymore.
