Default selling an ECU: what is fair market value?

I have a plain ECU and an APR modifed (v3) ECU for my 99.5 1.8T. New, chipping an ECU costs $400 and buying an ECU outright is $780. What is a fair price to charge for selling a used modified ECU? I don't want to lose out, but I don't want to screw anyone either. How would you guys price it?

Default Thanks! One data point. Any other ideas?

I just want to be fair to myself and to the buyer.

Default Since ECU's don't "wear out"....

your price is really for saving someone a buck or two, I would price it for a 100 under.

Default Well, that's kind of my point...

If someone were to buy a new ECU ($780 from APR) and then chip it ($400) they would be out $1180. I suppose there are cheaper places to get ECUs, but still that's a rather steep drop to sell it for $600.

No... Sell it for 100-200 under your cost. NOT 600.

Default I agree. They don't wear out...

I did finally sell my bumper, but I had people offering me $.50 on the dollar for it also, so it should not surprise me that someone wanted a deal on the ECU as well.

Thanks for your input, Ed. Whatever happened to your Nokia 8260 phone kit if I may ask? I have a plug it into the cigarette lighter kit, and I wanted to use my Audi wiring for the speaker and mic. Do you have any of the pinouts and such left? Thanks!
