Should I remove the Cat. on a Euro (1-sensor 1.8T)
I was just looking over the parts bin for my project passat, and noticved that the Tiptronic 1.8T is a Euro (German) model. I live in the Dominican Republc and we have both US and Euro Trim direct from Germany. My tuning shop here stated that when I move on to My "Stage 2" [BCS, MC Intake and Supersprint Exhaust], I should get rid of the Cat. and install a downpipe. He said this cannot be done on the US-spec due to the two oxygen sensor that will trip the "Check Engine" lamp.
so .... YES or No?

I currently have that setup, live in Puerto Rico, but neither GIAC nor
APR say that they can override the second O2 sensor. I have the Supersprint downpipe which eliminates the cat. Had to drill the hole for the second O2 sensor and mounted it on the downpipe. But still get the check engine light, I am running the GIAC software and Garrett say they cannot modify the ECU to ignore that sensor. Note that when the check engine light turns on I notice considerable power loss, I reset the codes but in a couple of days of hard acceleration the CE light comes on again and the car looses power. If you have any other info that can help us with that supersprint downpipe and second O2 please email me at fgrc@hotmail.com
