Default Skip Barber Driving School vs. Racing School

Hi all,

I drive on the street mostly, have driven my S4 on a track several times now and absolutely love it, but I'm not thinking of getting super-serious about racing.

Should I do Driving School or Racing School?

I appreciate any thoughts you all might have.

Thanks

Gotta learn to walk before you can run. Most work their way up over time.

Default don't crack your car up at racing school

Your insurance will not cover accidents on the track at a racing school, but will at a driving school. As such, many racing schools supply their own cars.

A high-end driving school will teach you a lot of track techniques.

(Skip Barber supplies their own cars in both cases, so this is not an issue...)

Default Do the Skip Barber 3 day racing school...

I've taken it...and it is still very applicable to everyday driving...

In the Racing school you drive a formula dodge around learning how to turn correctly, double clutch, trail brake, and heel/toe...lots of good stuff....

Take the racing school...its a blast...I cant say enough good things about it...

The only negative side effect is that your daily driver will feel slow and unresponsive after 3 days on the track...

Default Intro to Racing

I took the course this past Septemeber. It's a lot of fun, but only about an hour and a half of track time. Maybe 2. I did the one day intro to racing. It's just progressively faster laps around Lime Rock in an open wheel car. The 3 day course covers heel-toe braking, etc... It's fun and worth doing if you've got the ca$h.
