Default Ok... here ya go.

I looked at mine up close again today. The back plate is held on with some brackets. Remove those bolts. You goal is to get it free. Loosen the belt tensioner so its out of the way. You will then be able to slide it in. I used a long screw driver to gently pry it in. Since I coated mine with lithium grease it slide in with no problem.

Default I wonder why there are so many vibration complaints...it would seem that

you'd get lots of vibe it items 7 and 8 were firmer...those Hydro Mounts as they're called...cause thats the direction the engine wiggles in when it's running?

How bad is the Vibe in reality Clark?

Default Info..

When stock my car was like yours. A numb wheel and almost no vibration. Very smooth and quiet.

With the mount my wheel shakes and vibrates as well as my door panels. Only the lower RPM range is where the vibration is. Example: Turn the AC on and its the worst.

Anyone that has owned an A1 or A3 Volkswagen will know exactly what this is like. It reminds of of my Sirocco.

I dont want to scare anyone off. Its not that bad but there is more vibration for sure. Sometimes I hate it. My Dad was in town last week. He has owned many Audi's. He drove the car around. He made a comment "this is not the smoothest engine I have seen". I told him about the mount and he agreed. He said "before the mount you had to look down to see that the car was even running. Now you know it." I agreed.

As I said before. At this point I like the mount and I am willing to accept the trade off. I like the solid feel. If I stopped drag racing I would yank it out. I see no point in having it unless you want or need that driveline located better.

I used to have a mount for the side of my 1.8 in my Scirocco. I cant remember who made it. It had cutouts on the edge of the donut to allow some flex. That mount worked real well and added little vibration be still had a solid feel. I wonder if that design would work on this application.

Default dual composition!

hard inner core with more flexible outer ring.

flexible section cuts out most vibration (higher frequency stuff), while the hard section ties the driveline together.

I bet Energy Suspension has something on the shelf that would work (ok, so I'm guessing). But Clark could get Turbo5 working on that project? Sell it for $120...I'll be your first customer (assuming I can get the APR mount off).

Default Well no, because the hard center would do the driveline stabilizing...

...whereas the soft outer part would take away some of the vibrations (higher freq. vibes as steve said). The lower freq. stuff is the driveline flex we don't want.

I'm sure that this would be better than stock, but not quite as good a full solid mount. Everything's a compromise I guess.
