Default slave cylinder...

We just did a 1.8t engine transplant. All is OK. but the slave cylinder on the clutch, after one day...blew.

We replaced the cylinder and after a few hours of town driving it blew again.

Any Ideas to track down?

Over stroking it? Are you sure you have the release bearing assembly properly installed?

Default see if you can get a metal one from 2.8 trans,

the slave that came with my 2.8 trans was metal, cast alum i think. I dont know if they are all made of plastic now but its worth looking into.

Default Over stroking?

Can you elaborate? I thought the slave was pushing on the clutch lever? Am I missing something? The car is shifting fine..pedal effort is normal.. then one one push...squish.....

stock clutch, throw-out, and flywheel? or aftermarket?

Default all after market.. swapped from the blown engine to the new engine

blown engine never had this problem in 10K miles...

Where's your pedal engagement? Is it low? Sounds like it is overstroking indeed

Default There have been recent problems on S4s with aftermarket flywheels and t/o bearings. Parts varied

from stock dimensionally, allowing slave cylinders to pop their piston. Three engine-pulls later, the tuner went to an RS4 set-up. Works fine.
