in teh B6 cars fit the B5 1.8T quattros? Wouldn't this now be the easiest 6 speed conversion? Obviously there aren't many cheap ones to be had yet and I am guessing the gearing is still short since the car's power to weight stock isn't very good. Just curious.

Default Haven't seen data on the new 6-speed but you'd...

...have to look at the final drive in it. If it's different you need to swap in the rear differential as well.

Then of course, you'd have to actually measure the tranny and make sure it's the same physical size. I would think it's quite possible that it's going to be a slighly different size. Time will tell though...

Good thought until someone determines otherwise!

Default Bolts up to the 1.8t .. I gotta think it is the same case etc. IIRC the final is different from the

A4 and S4 finals.
IMO it doesn't really matter (yet) as the 01E from the earlier models will be far more abundent.

Thats OK, s4/2/rs2 rears all work and this is 4.11. 1 spacer makes it all work in a4

What spacer where? I didn't need any spacers.

Trannies have bolted up for going on 15 years....but the cases have changed.

Default I am currently running a CGR (from a RS2) 01E in my B5 1.8t. It is ~12 years old and its cases are

pretty much identical to the B5 EDU transmission cases except for the RS2 shift plate and the different backup lamp switch cover .. which lacks the mount for the EDU's shift linkage.
I suspect there are gearing changes, likely mount changes and perhaps subtle casting changes but I'd be surprised if there were wholesale case changes (on the current box) sufficient to preclude mounting one in a B5 chassis if one used a little creativity.
The link is to a little info on the 02&03 FYF and GBE 01E.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1879333.phtml</a

Default The rear covers are what usually changes. Also, the axle..

..."stubs" will differ.

I agree, it's not a huge deal but something to take into account.
