Default Interesting and simple concept, but I can't find what I'm looking for - compression tests :)

I think round engines (variations of the rotary) have a better future than above link.

Default With the way fuels are going, I think we may see these engine designs ......

coming in production cars someday. Maintenance is rapidly becoming cheaper than fuel IMO, and these engines can/will run on E85 & the likes. I think they listed some ceramic compression part as a maintenance item, which involved head R&R, but if the interval is hi enough, that'd be fine with me. 40 mpg & 500 HP, with a $3000 maintenance every 80,000 miles? Eh? There's much worse cars out there....

Default no, the Wankel rotary, invented by Germany, used by NSU, improved and currently used by Mazda.

Here's some links to round engine though. There's a quite a bit of articles just searching on the intarweb.

Round Engine

I haven't really followed the issues, but the concept is simple. The challenges are most likely getting the proper compression, sealing and reliability. Also, the future of internal combustion and what type of propellant.

Default Or torque. but they've got great redlines & hp.

We did a race engine in a 3rd generation RX7 back in '99. It had 7mm apex seals, and modified turbos, was a blast to drive, but you could clearly feel a power difference between driving it alone VS having a passenger. Felt like someone attached a trailer.....
