Default some questions...

im not too well informed on the intricacies of the 1.8t engine so im hoping youguys can shed some light on my situation.

this past winter a friend left his a4 with me to watch while he was out of town for a month. He said i could drive it and i took it out a couple times. Heres some info on the two cars:
Mine:
99.0 1.8t qm (nDBW AEB), GIAC 91 octane programming, spec stg 2 clutch, borla V1 cat back exhaust, K&N filterpanel (i know it does nothing but figured id mention anything).

friends car:
2k1 A4 1.8t DBW qm, GIAC x chip, stock clutch, borla v2 catback exhaust, EVOMS CAI.

my question is about throttle response and turbo lag. We're both running stock k03's, but in response to throttle advances my friends car not only begins to show RPM climbing faster but also of course turbo spool up, and has much less turbo lag. From various rantings and ravings people seem to think my nDBW car should provide better throttle response. However that is not the case. The k03 on my car was replaced last summer and my friends is the original from 2k1.

Are these the results of comparison you would expect to see or should my car in fact be responding to throttle adjustments faster than his? Where should i begin? any suggestions? I know im dipping into two issues, throttle response and turbo lag, but having only the butt dyno to go on its hard to separate the two.

i also ran the 95 octane programming offered by GIAC for the k03 turbo which provided noticably more power but was still outperformed by the x chip. That i may or may not be expected, im not sure how the two compare. any info would be appreciated.

TIA

Default The 95 octane chip helped a little by adding more adv timing

which will get the turbo spooling a little quicker. That chip still wont give you the power of the X-chip since it runs more boost which jumps the tq up quick.

Default Sport is just a name some people decided to call the updated version.

Which started on the VW GTI forums.

IIRC it was the shaft and the compressor wheel.
