Someone help!!! Crank shaft and cams moved turing TB job!
I have marks where the cams and the crank shaft is supposed to be for TDC but the belt is off and the I accidentally moved to crank by a half turn and I think it rotated counter clockwise. I dont know how many teeth are supposed to be between the markings non the cams. How the heck do I get the timing back? Should I just chalk this one up and tow it to a local German shop? Please help!

How did you accidently move the crank?
That thing is a real bitch to turn.
Anyway... The timing marks are easy on the 2.8
Put the dampner back on the crank pulley, and the plastic cover behind it. There is a notch on the pulley that should line up with an arrow on the cover.
For future refernce, you should have used the crank locking pin. That way it ensures you dont move the crank.

Bad idea to do it that way.
You have to lock the cams using a special tool. You can't just mark the cams and crank and hope you have them lined up right.
The cams need to be locked and then the sprockets can freewheel to make the adjustments when you put the belt on. If you don't have the right tools you can end with the timing off so you'll throw codes or even bend valves.
If you don't have the special tools for the job, I'd leave it to a German specialist shop.
