Default Suspension or Tire upgrade for my 2.8 with sport suspension?

I'd like to do both, but for now my budget (wife) will only allow for one. Already put on Potterfield pads for brakes, and now want to get around the twisties a bit faster. Looking at getting the Pole Position's (225/50/R16) on my stock wheels, or getting H&R sport springs and Koni sport shocks. (BTW, how much would that lower my car from OEM sport) Went to Portland Int'l Raceway on Friday, and need to do something to get back even with my friend in his (sigh) Mustang. He already has me on the straights and now with all his suspension mods, he's just a quick around the corners.

Thanks for the advice,
Jason

Good tires are essential, IMHO. S-02 PPs are great.
