Default Swaybar questions

Work is planning for a 1.8TQ without the Sport Package:

Are the front sway bars size on the Sport vs non-sport the same? I believe they are both 29mm. The only difference is the OEM Sport gets it hollow, and Non-Sport gets solid?
How much difference between hollow vs. solid - Besides weight?

Second question, I am thinking of upgrading just the non-sport rear sway bar (12mm) to a rear OEM Sport sway bar (16mm). Can I do this without making any changes to the front (solid vs. hollow)?

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cris

Default Some answers....

I think the front Sport swaybar is solid and the non-sport is hollow. But, I'm not 100% sure.

You will be fine adding the Sport rear swaybar without changing the front. Adding only the larger bar on the rear will induce more oversteer (a good thing!)

If you also increase the front bar, you will add understeer (a bad thing!) and negate any gains that may have been realized by the larger rear bar.

Hope that helps!

Default You'll reduce understeer...

...not induce oversteer. You have to try DAMN hard to get an A4 to oversteer.

I have H&Rs/Bilstiens, a Sports pkg front bar and a 22mm Neuspeed rear bar set on FIRM and the car is neutral at best. A 911 is tail happy...the A4 is NOT.
