Default Tach signal

Looking to install a digital tach in my A4. I know a couple of people here have shift lights, and I was wondering how/where exactly you tapped to get a "usable tach signal" for an aftermarket gauge.

I think it was Mike2.0 who posted on what wire behind dash a while back. iirc, it's a green wire

pin 3 on the yellow connector at the cluster on drive by cable
