Default Theoretical top speed of B6 A4 Quattro fitted with a 6 speed gear box?

<center><img src="http://www.audistory.24max.de/old1/pics/talla1t.jpg"></center><p>Hi guys,

Can anyone with a B6 A4 Quattro tell me their theoretical top speed.

IE speed in km/h or miles/h in top gear with the revs right on the red line (not the rev limiter)

Failing that can you tell me how fast you are going at 1000, 2000 or 3000 rpm in top gear.

Have a B6 with 5 speed box and thinking of upgrading when i change the clutch.

However if there is no real gain/benefit from changing the box I'll use the $$$ for different mods.

Thanks for your time and merry Christmas from down under (Australia)

Default B6 S4 Gearbox for 1.8T...will that fit?

Or will you have to make some custom parts?

Sound really interesting...will cut the food expenses and start saving =(

Trade in discount for 1.8T 5 speed box? =P

Just need to add clutch and flywheel costs plus labour to the equation.

Will the gearing be capable of speeds above 260? OR even better yet if i can find a straight enough road could i get close to 300KM/H!?

If the answer is yes I'll start saving like a tight a$$ right away!

Thanks for your time Lucas

Default This will answer your questions. If you find ratios for my old rs2 box publish them out of

curiosity. I have often wondered if they were same as any but newer S2's.<ul><li><a href="http://4wheeldrive.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ/Ya&amp;sdn=4wheeldrive&amp;cdn=autos&amp;tm=27&amp ;gps=143_4_1089_616&amp;f=00&amp;su=p284.21.140.ip _&amp;tt=14&amp;bt=1&amp;bts=1&amp;zu=http%3A//www.onlineconversion.com/b

Default I posted (to your attention) a scan of the factory transmission manual (showing ratios) on this

forum I believe. I'll see if I can find it again.

Default I can make power thru 8000rpm, just dont know if I make enough 2 offset the OD ratio

It sure doesnt have a dead spot in acceleration thru end of 5th tho. I didnt want to see what it would do in 6th, 160 is fast enough on a deserted public road (probably waaay 2 fast).

If I can ever get a clean race track with a mile and a half straight following a fast curve I will try to find out. But I think with the wind resistance and tire slip at that speed a radar gun may be only accurate measure.

Default Theoretical top in 6th is 203.94/ 5th-173/ 4 - 143/3 112.79/ 2 - 79.19/ 1-42.53

At 8000 rpm running 245-40 zr18's with a 25.7" rolling diameter. As I said I know it will indiicate 8000 in 5th, 6th is very doubtful in its current state of tune. I am thining it would take about 600whp to pull the brick to 200mph without serious body changes. Anything over 4th gear is usally pretty short lived. It also explains why I dont get thru 4th on the 1/4 mile stretch I laid out locally.

At any rate, if you have a good dyno chart and know the rpms of peak torque and where the hp rate starts to peeter out you can set almost perfect shift points for aq 1/4 mile with these tables. You may be surprised where you do shift and where the tables say you should shift.
