Default Not really, I don't think. Amsoil hires independent sales reps who use their product...

nationwide and offers discounted pricing through them. I used to buy mine from Chris:

Chris_s4@hotmail.com

But you can do a search and there's a few--find the closest one to you.

Default Find an independant garage in your area which is a "distributor".

BTW I don't like amsoil. My friends and I have tried it in some cars, comparing to alot of brands. amsoil wasn't worth the price.

Only get it if you are lazy and only want to change your oil once a year..

What oil do you recommend? I am currently using Mobil 1 0W30. I was thinking about trying something different. I heard that Amsoil is better and their graphs show it is better (which could be bias) Why don't you like it? Any insite would be great. I haven't made the purchase yet. But it is an expensive oil.

Default I might be ****, but I feel differences between oils.

My friends and I have tried out different oils in 4 of our cars. the difference is in the "feel" of the engine, throughout the rev range, at idle, driving in the city, etc.

believe me, change brands once every 2 weeks, you will see the difference.

My friend's fav in his neon is Motul. It's good oil, no question about the quality, but it didn't feel too good in the A4, me thinks because of the turbo.
My favorite forced induction motor oil is Mobil, followed by lubromoly (known as liquimoly in some places..purple can).

The amsoil, we put in the neon (gear oil + engine oil....over $100 worth).... 3 weeks later it was out of there...my friend couldn't stand it anymore. "boring", he said it was.

Anyway, nothing scientific here...you have to try it yourself to see what I mean.

shell out $50-100...go buy different brands. change once a month, and see for yourself.

regards,
Liam

Default if you sign up as a dealer or preferred customer the price is about the same.

you can get it for 4.80 a qt (series 2000 0w30),or as preferred customer 6.30 a qt. Alot of the distributors wave the sign up fee of 10 dollars. I use their oil and filters. I change @ 5k mile intervals.
