Default is there supposed to be an OEM ECU in the car?

i was trying to open the ECU box of my a4..
and i didn't quite open the box completely
so i was wondering if there should be an OEM chip in the car or if not..then it must be the mod chip? ( i just bought this car as used car..from dealer..so didn't know if the previous owner installed the chip or not )..
thanx

Just remove all 4 screws and open it up. You will know if it is stock or has a chip in it.

Default I meant the 4 screws that are on the ecu. I thought he had pulled the ecu out of the black

box already.

You have to open up the ecu(silver box) to see if it is chipped or not.
