The time has come to get a new motor...
...because I am bored.
I want to spend the next six months (or more) building a stout bottom end and head for the next iteration of my car. Any recommendations for getting my hands on a complete 1997-1999 40K-60Kmile longitudinal 1.8T?
Plans include new rods, pistons, gapless rings, coatings, porting on the head, Schrick cams, modified intake, and some kind of huge turbo! Power output goal is over 400hp with daily driveability.
Thanks,
Mike O.<ul><li><a href="http://members.tripod.com/trackjunkie/">trackjunkie</a></li></ul>

Call Brett @ Apr, Tell him I sent You...
I think personally the way to go is to get a great piston kit and a great turbo. APR has done a good job with race cars. I have personally spoken with Brett for creating a great engine. The GT Series Ball Bearing turbos are one of the most reliable on the Market. Now he should be able to get the pistons, rods and crank, eventhought the Audi crank is a very good design. The head will only hold about 22 lbs of boost, if you will go higher than that, it'll have to be worked. The biggest turbo's on the market are the 40 series, I believe there is a GT-40, and agin APR should be able to get your car in the Stoich level, they do great ECU programming.
