Default turbo questions

I posted in the TT forum but thought folks here might have some good comments..

Anyone know why a KKK K16 would be preferred over the KKK K24 as an upgrade for the TT? Just poking around and it's interesting to see how different tuners choose different turbos... but these 2 are sticking with "family" member turbos...

Comments on durability, performance, etc? thanks

Default K16 is about the size of a GT25 while the K24 is too big for a 1.8 motor.

K16 should kick in just around 4K rpms while the K24 wont kick in till well above 4500 rpms.

Default Julie...I just drove an APR stage 3....

granted it was on an A4 and not a TT. You have to drive one if you are seriously interested in a turbo upgrade. The power is so linear and so smooth you wouldn't know there is a turbo in the car...let alone one pumping out massive boost. I can only imagine how sweet this kit is on a transverse 1.8T engine. This kit jas power all the way to 7000 RPM. It is jsut like a stock engine when your aren't pushing it and it really comes alive when you are. The turbo sound is a little louder as well. Although this car had an intake. If you read the A4 stage 3 page on APR's site, they explain how they made their choice for the turbo.
