Default Turbo Upgrade

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know how to get the most out of a K04/T28 hybrid, without necessarily going to extremes. Where would you get a larger MAF and injectors? What would be the best chip for this combo, APR, GIAC,or Neuspeed? Does a downpipe help on an A4 1.8T, if anyone has real numbers. Lots of claims out there. This is also a non DBW 98 A4 1.8T Q

ATP sells injectors, and possibly MAFs too. IMO, your best bet would be the GIAC X or any program with direct port. Look into the companies that are coming out with the DIY software that lets you change parameters. A DP will definitely help, and for max power, you may want to look into a sport cat too (aside from emissions). You're already better off than some since you have a non-DBW (easier to tune). As far as numbers go, I haven't really heard a lot about this type of a hybrid. Straight K04s can run around 240-250, and straight T-28s run about 270-280. Hope it helps.

I am concerned with what could happen to my engine if it does not get proper fuelling with a larger turbo and wo injectors or MAF, FPR I don't think is the answer.

Default If you dont have a VAG-COM, get one...

This piece of equipment will be key in analyzing the state-of-affairs within your engine.

I am in the process of acquiring all these parts at the moment, but it will be a K04/T28 hybrid for the ease of fitment, as of 2 hours ago, ATP 475cc injectors and MAF combo, maybe software, since a FPR is a bandaid solution. If I don't go with the ATP chip I will get the APR stage on chip with V tune if available for the car. This should also make descent power, not sure about the numbers though. The reasoning behind all this is that I can put this whole assembly over a period of time, instead of shelling out about 4500usd for a kit at one time.

Well, I should clarify a bit. With the right combo of components, you could theoretically run 240-250 with a K04. For instance, Ecode's K04 kit is rated at 225 hp with stock exhaust and stock IC. If you were to add say a Thermal exhaust like mine, that would pick you up about 15 hp over stock. Then, you could go with a 2nd IC or even a FMIC, which as long as you're not running in AZ in the middle of the summer, should pick up another 5 or so. Then, if you wanted to, you could run a sport cat for a few, or even a BC to push a bit more boost. All of this would be dyno dependent, but on paper, I'm sure it could be done. I don't know of any specific examples off the top of my head, but I have heard of guys pulling it off. Does that help?

I never said an FPR was the answer. Of course fueling is very important. Injectors for sure, IMO.
