Default turbo upgrade

i have been look into installing a gt35/40r turbo on my 1.8t. so far from what i know i think i would need to get to support this turbo would be a new exhaust manifold with i think a t3 flange, new fuel injectors im not sure what size but i will also add a fuel rail and fuel pump. for the exhaust i think i am goin to go with atp's 3 inch dp and have a custom 3 inch setup the rest of the way. as for a intercooler i want to put a duh engineering one but i am unsure if the s4 one will fit on an a4. for an intake i think i might just go with the dahlback one. for transmission i either want to go with a stg 4 setup or swap a s4 tranny and a new differiential on top of a performance clutch and flywheel. for a blow off valve i was thinking of going with a hks ssq with the recirculation kit so it routes into the intake. as for software i am not sure i think its either atp's beta programs or a ebc or something? as for the exhaust manifold are there any other options i have other than full out custom? just let me know what you guys think if i am on the wrong path just let me know. thanks.

Default You do under stand that is going to lag big time on a small motor

you will need a 2 liter and even then your not going to get everything out of a huge turbo like that. Even my 60-1 did not peak before my rev limiter at 7300 or even now at 7800 while running 20-25psi. You must understand the basics, your turbo MUST be sized to the motor. You cant just strap the largest thing you can find onto it and expect it to make the power you want. Best thing you can do is look for a turbo with a stage 3 turbine, with a GT30 compressor wheel. Mine has a stage 5 turbine and a 60-1 compressor, it makes almost 400 to the wheels on 20psi and race fuel.

Default Got to start some where right?

I have worked my way up to 400 while racing each step of the way up. The setup now is a handfull to run, not as easy as just getting in it and just running it.

Default Holy oversized turbo batman!

Listen to Audiptzero and Devious18t. Be sure that you really want that big of a turbo. I would look into the GT28RS first, and work up from there if you are sure it is not enough...

Default You are right about more hp making THEM harder 2 drive.

AFTER PICKING UP CAR, THE ENTIRE DRIVELINE MOVES UNDER FULL POWER, ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO COME OUT OF BAY. HAVE HAD TO TIGHTEN REAR DIFF CARRIER BOLTS UP 4 TIMES NOW, THEY BACK OUT/EVEN WITH CURED RED LOCKTIGHT, WILL HAVE TO WIRE DRILL. lAUNCH HARD IN 1ST GEAR AND IT POPS OUT OF 1ST UNLESS YOU HOLD IT. aLMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIFT UNDER FULL POWER. IN 3RD WHEN YOU GET OFF GAS TO SHIFT IT CHIRPS REARS IF UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. iT WINDS SO FAST BETWEEN 4500 AND 8000 YOU CAN BARELY DRIVE WITH TRAFFIC ON ROAD. I MAY HAVE OVERDONE THIS CAR. WE WILL BE PUTTING IN SOLID TRANNY MOUNTS TO SEE IF IT HELPS, ALREADY HAS BEST SNUB MOUNT AND S2 MOTORMOUNTS, SO? WE MAY HAVE TO FAB A NEW REAR DIFF CARRIER OUT OF STEEL, THE ALUMINUM ONE WONT LAST LONG.
SHIFTING PROBLEM WAS SO BAD I NEVER GOT A FULL RUN OUT OF 8 RUNS WITHOUT MISSING A GEAR, EVEN AFTER FORGETTING ABOUT SPEEDSHIFT. GOT A 13.2 @ 106 AND MISSED 4TH ALTOGETHER AND COASTED LAST 70 YARDS ON TRACK (BEFORE YOU START ON THAT, CAR HAS AN RS2 TRANNY W/MUCH BETTER GEARS) @ 8K SHIFT POINT IS AROUND 110MPH 3-4TH). wONT MAKE CLAIMS TILL WE GET SORTED, BUT ENGINE IS EXTREMELY STRONG AND WE DIDNT EVEN TUNE FOR RACE GAS YET.
SO YEAH, PROBLEMS DRAGGING THE CAR MULTIPLY WITH POWER. BUT THIS WAS MADE FOR A TRACK (ROAD) CAR SO I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT DRAGS 2 MUCH. CAR ACCELERATES IN GEARS NOTICEABLY FASTER THAN A FRIENDS 996 THOUGH. HE EVEN CRIED ABOUT IT FOR AWHILE.
