UUC shortshifter question!!!
I just installed the UUC short shifter on my 99 A4 1.8TQ (pushdown reverse). The install went smoothly and the shifter is great! I have a question though. Since the install, the shifter sits slightly tilted toward the left. This makes all the gears slightly more towards the left. I thought it was bad alignment at first but my friend suggested that it may be designed that way to get 1st gear closer to the driver. Did I istall it out of alignment or is everyones that way?

Alignment is adjustable and will influence how smoothly you can pick up a gear change. Especially
in the 1-2 and 4-5 changes .. in both directions. If you can pick up each gear smoothly you are good to go. If first-second or fourth-fifth tends to hang a bit you should adjust it. I find mine sits a bit right and toward the rear when in neutral.
If you wish to adjust it you'll need to slightly loosen the allen head cap screw that holds the shifter to the shift linkage, reposition the shifter, re-tighten the bolt and try each gear. You may have to repeat the process until you've got it properly centered in respect to the shift 'gates'. Once you have it located so that all gear changes are at their smoothest, fully tighten the bolt and reassemble the trim. Once properly adjusted mine snicks gears nicely.
