Default Valve Cover question for you DBW guys...

I saw Big Nippers VC and it got me thinking. It looks like it might be perfect for what I need, but I need some measurements.

I need to know the depth from the top of the spark plug hole on the VC (basically, the bottom of the coilpack) to the tip of the spark plug, and I need to know the diameter of the hole where the coil pack sits in. Also, what's the diameter of the outlet on the vent?

Anybody got a spare VC like this one laying around?

Default No idea....

now that I look at it closer, it almost looks like it might be an insert of sorts, and the notch goes under the tab on the VC.

It's either to allow the fitment of coil packs without the use of bolts, or, maybe an air pocket to prevent heat from getting to the coil?

No bolts for these coils:

Default Why would you want to use the newer coil packs

if they are the ones that were going bad. From looking at my stock ATW VC I would have to say no the newer coil packs would not work in the it since the opening is a square.

Default yeah i guess you're right. though i do notice with the ATW VC...

that if you are not careful, its easy to get water under the coilpacks if you washing your engine bay. thats why i was wondering of that channel was for a gasket/oring.

Default These are the OEM coil packs 01'

They are now changed to the older non-dbw ones. Damn things weren't cheap either compared to the new ones.

Default I've had that problem with a lot of the newer designs.....

but the worst one is still the AHA 2.8 with the plug wires. BOlt in coil packs have the seal that contacts the top of the VC, seems 2 b the best. That, & they're not subject to the heat failure that the push in coil packs have, but AOA has supposedly fixed that, right? ;-)
