wastegate spring - 5000 turbo
Has anyone changed the wastegate spring before in one of these things? How hard is the job? Do I need gaskets? Approx how long should it take? Do I need special tools? Im nervous.

Wastegate spring?
Do you mean wastegate actuator? Most turbos just have an actuator and an arm, when the actuator (diaphram) gets boost, it pushes the arm, which opens the wastegate.
I've replaced them on other turbos, not too hard, just usually a PITA to get to.

No, the spring (more)
It's not hard at all- just remove all of the top bolts on the wastegate, careful removing it otherwise you'll have stuff flying all over the place.
The spring will not give you much w/o the chip and if you're driving an automatic 5000 turbo, I caution you against doing any engine mods, as you will kill the transmission.

Re: No, the spring (more)
It is an auto... which I really wish wasn't. But you're saying that a spring won't do much at all? This is my first audi... and I'm not sure if the boost increase from 1.2 - (with a spring I heard 1.6) would make a big difference at all or not.
The car alone has a little less then 100k miles on it. I appreciate the help.
