What can be done to improve the low end torque on 1.8T?
I have the APR chip and for now am satisfied with the over 2500 RPM pull, but the stop and go driving is lacking some umph. I understand the reality of the turbo engine, but someone with APR stage III mentioned that the first thing they noticed was the low end torque. Was that due to the exhaust manifold, high flo cat, fuel injectors?
What I want to do is be able to pull out ahead of the traffic, even if I didn't have time to do a 3K RPM launch.

Well..
You can bolt on a quality cat-back exaust and permit faster spooling. You will gain a little more power over the entire powerband. The faster spooling is really what counts.
Look at apr's stage I & II dyno graph for the A4.

Stage 3 doesn't help below 3K.
A chipped K03 is probably your best option if you're looking for low RPM throttle response and torque. My car is now APR's stage 3 and it doesn't have the same quickness below 3000 RPM. The boost doesn't come on hard until 3500 RPM but then it really pulls all the way to 7200.

I never have any problems with low end torque. I think the trick is in the clutch. If you let out too low in the rpm band then it'll take a little longer for the boost to come on. What you want to do is to hold the rpm a little higher, say ~1500 to 2000 rpm during the fiction zone(this doesn't mean dropping the clutch or let it slip forever). Gradualy let out the clutch and keep the rpm around there. By doing that you're introducing a load on the engine so it can produce a little more boost and you'll never really "bog" the car. It's not that hard on the clutch, you're trying to induce very slight slippage to keep the rpm a little higher. I find the K03 produce plenty of useful torque as low as 1500 to 1600 rpm.

IC can be a preheater, warming to 120F+ in hot traffic. Can add $80 fan or watersparay, controlled by $80 controller at link.
Ford has patent on A/L IC, with help from loop off AC system for those hot summer days.
None of this is for road track events.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autospeed.com/A_0527/P_1/article.html">IC spray and control</a></li></ul>
