97 has a different MAF. Went back throuth the archives and found some answers.
Todd @ AWE found Audi made a running change sometime in '98 with the MAF. All the '97's have the older style MAF, which works fine, but doesn't seem as happy with the K04 as the newer style one.
Mine still has the OEM MAF and the K04. Jeff Moss flashed my chip to the newer file (maybe it was the pc-16 file, don't know for sure) I had surging issues.
AWE now recommends an upgraded MAF as part of their K04 kit on '97's.
So, bottom line, I'll need a new MAF, and then I can try that pc-16 Garrett file and some 310cc injectors. Time to give Jeff Moss a call...

well i dont believe there are any documented hp gains..
maybe 1-2hp? quicker spoolup?
SSP sells one...I sort of made one myself I sent a stock manifold to extrude-hone in PA and then gasket matched myself. Pics of the manifold are on my site. The SPP one looks like it would have better quality, but of course its more expensive.
I installed mine when I installed my K04 kit...so I have no before-after commentary. I can say that the stock cast manifold was pretty crappy as far as gasket matching and interior finish goes.
Install is the same as installing a new turbo plus the added exchanging of manifolds, which is easy.

High flow cat and 2.5" downpipe
and like the others said, 310cc injectors (and whatever FPR is required) The injectors may not make that much more power, but should be more reliable by running the fuel pump at a lower pressure.
