Default What are the most cost effective perf mods for a 97 A4 2.8?

I'm a new A4 owner and have zero clue, looking at a K&n first? Exhaust?

Default goal... little more performance...

no plans for anything major, just wondering what the easy mods are that'll gain a little hp and gas mileage.

Default from the feedback i've read...

the only advantage with the K&N will be that they're reusable and therefore a better value in the long run...no performance gains. if you don't have the sport suspension, i'd definitely do that and maybe some wheels/tires.

Default Suggestions...

Having BTDT, most cost effective mods when I was doing things were (in no particular order):
1) H&R coilovers-less squat on acceleration, less dive on braking, and much less body roll while cornering. Made the car a lot more fun to drive. Approx $1250 from shox.com or AWE.
2) Remus exhaust ~$400 installed. YMMV. Engine revved a little better and did not tail off in power at the top end.
3) Throttle body mod (see user reviews). Schaumberg no longer makes one, but TAP (www.tap1.com) still has something, I think.

HTH

None. Best to save the cash for another car.

Why respond if you have nothing useful to say?

Default Here ya go....

You can find all you need for your 12v right here.

The way I would go is:

From TDL, Go with the Ported Intake Manifold and the ported throttle body, you can also pick up a Green panel filter while ordering . These would only run you about 500 bucks, not bad at all.

On the exhaust, go custom. Its a shame we have dual pipes going back into one muffler so find a nice dual in/outlet muffler. Find your local exhaust bender and get it done there, if hes a decent and quality workin guy.

Happy Modding!<ul><li><a href="http://www.tdlracing.com/index.htm">TDL Racing</a></li></ul>
