Default What are some symptoms if your wastegate is bad or going bad?

my car seems to be in limp mode (10psi). drives smooth, no codes.

was working well before I sent my ecu to the tuner for a little fix. came back with supposedly the same program as before, but now the car has no power.

ideas?
Liam

Default It is open all the time, you might hear it rattle.

Best thing is to just let the car cool down and reach down there and pull on the rod to see if it moves around real easy. I hope no girls are reading this. =P

Default Re: What are some symptoms if your wastegate is bad or going bad?

I just had mine replaced. If you can find a place to drive through where you can hear the turbo spool, and then when you shift here the turbo slow w/out any turbulance then its going bad. When its stuck open you can hear the turbo spool and then break apart (meaning the air) vs being real smooth. Hard to explain. But if its working properly you will hear just the turbo slowing down no breaks in sound as you shift.

Default If it was just a software change....

sounds like the N75 valve isn't doing it's job.

Use a VAG-COM to check the N75 duty cycle (don't remember which block)

Default just changed the N75 but now I'm getting 17965 intermittently

gonna check for small leaks and the N75 again.
also changed a coilpack, that helped a bit but still getting some misfires in other cylinders.

ecu/chip ruled out at this moment.

thanks
Liam
